Glow Combo

Becca Shimmering Moon Perfector
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder

It’s about that time of year again when everyone’s skin seems to be naturally glistening in the sunlight – you know that summer beauty glow. Well if you don’t fall in that bucket, you sure can fake it with my tried and true Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector and Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder. I mean if you haven’t even heard of nor tried the Becca highlighter, you might as well consider yourself an alien – just kidding. I say that because it is truly the holy grail of liquid highlighters. You need the tiniest amount to create that glow from within effect and it just looks perfect on all skintones. Here, I have the shade moonstone, but there are other options. It’s probably the most popular shade as it’s suitable for fair-medium skintones year round and never looks over the top. My gripe with highlighters is their tendency to give a “disco ball” effect – a little too much for me. I love highlighters but I don’t really want people to notice I’m wearing it. So anyway, point is, if this isn’t already in your collection, you need it…very much godsend for all occasions.

If it’s a girl’s night out or some other fancy event, I’ll swipe LM’s matte radiance powder over for a more intense highlight – it’s still subtle but more noticeable under all lighting conditions. I’ve used the Dior Shimmering Face Powder for years, but the LM has taken its place. I prefer the more neutral color of this one whereas the Dior Amber Diamond leans yellow/golden. They each have their own place, but for the kind of cool-tone, neutral makeup I’ve been into, the LM has been more versatile and accommodating.

What are some of your favorite highlighters? I’m always on the lookout for a good highlighting powder as it’s my least purchased makeup item.
