Stila CC Cream - Tone
Stila CC Cream in Tone

My perspective on foundations is essentially summed up by the statement Natalie Joos made in her Into The Gloss feature:

So, I cleanse and I moisturize, but I never use foundation. I feel like, once you start putting on foundation, you’re stuck with it for the rest of your life because that’s how you present yourself to everyone. I only put it on for photoshoots and when someone does my makeup for a party. I do love it, but you become like a slave to this image you’re creating and it takes such a long time.

I’m that exact girl who won’t wear foundation on the regular because I don’t want people to get used to seeing me in that light. Instead I’ll opt for a plain SPF moisturizer or a BB/CC cream. I reserve foundations for night outs, weddings, and occasionally photos (i.e. these here on the blog). For the last few months, I’ve been using the Stila CC Cream in the shade Tone. Having worn it in both hot and cold weather, I can honestly say, there have been zero complaints making it my daywear of choice. It’s green in color, but transforms into a skin-like tone suitable for anyone in the Chanel B20/30 and MAC NC20/25 range. This stuff especially ranks high on my BB/CC list because it’s not screaming orange. I bought both the CC and BB cream from Stila and I definitely prefer this one.

This CC cream won’t conceal darkspots or cover blemishes as it is not foundation, but it helps minimize redness and provides a natural glow you can’t get with pure moisturizer. It makes a great starting point for anyone who likes to layer on concealer, powder, blush, etc. It gives the illusion of skin at its best. There’s essentially no fragrance so it should work well with all skin-types. It also seems to be comprised of pretty safe elements (physical vs chemical sunblock, sans controversial parabens, etc) – winner!

Anyway, I’m not much of a “repurchaser” because I’m always on the lookout for new things in the market, but I’ll definitely keep this gem in rotation. Give it a shot and you’ll easily see why it’s become a staple. (Note: You won’t like this product if your makeup of choice is med-full coverage.)
