The Once Questionable Revisited

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard
Benefit They're Real Pushup Liner

In attempts to whittle down my makeup collection so I can make room for more, I’ve revisited two specific items I never really grasped and actually surprised myself a bit. Let’s take a look.

  • Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – I purchased this a while ago when the hype around Nars’ new concealer was just beginning and to be honest, my initial reaction wasn’t all that impressed. The thing was, I’d been looking for a new undereye concealer but I don’t think I chose the right color – I went with Custard as that seemed like the one best suited for warm, medium Asian skintones. I’m actually kinda neutral in tone (more like a slight pink face, but yellow everything else) and that should have been my first red flag. Anyway, I hadn’t touched this for almost a year before I noticed it popping up more frequently on beauty blogs lately. I decided to pick it up over the weekend and realized my entire outlook on this stuff has changed quite a lot. So as before, I still don’t find this color great for under my eyes, but I love it for concealing any hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and redness. It works great with a brush, sponge, and fingers. The consistency is probably one of the best things about this – super easy to work with while bestowing a beautiful finish. What was I thinking…perhaps, I should try Honey for under the eyes as suggested by Cafe Makeup back in the day.
  • Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner – I initially thought this gel-in-a-pen eyeliner was a genius idea poorly executed, but I’ve actually learned to appreciate it in the last week or so. I should preface by saying there’s a strange learning curve to using it although I didn’t believe it at first so I think that’s a huge point to emphasize. That being said, I probably wouldn’t re-purchase it, but I do think it deserves more credit than it gets. Watching this video was the turning point for me because how is she able apply it so seamlessly when I’m sitting over here struggling to get clump-free strokes? So I tried my hand at it again, tilting the pen in the most unconventional way and what do you know…I get a mark of perfection. I’m even a little embarrassed to say its become quite a daily pickup.

What are your thoughts on these? Love em? Hate em? I’d love to hear.
